ABOUT ME
With over 20 years of experience in software development management and leadership, I’ve served as a manager, director, project and program manager, scrum master, and agile coach. I design and deliver training programs to launch new Agile teams, drawing on my experience to guide team leads as they become effective Scrum Masters and Kanban leads. I provide custom content to support their growth and address real-world challenges. My approach includes hands-on problem-solving for teams that encounter obstacles and working as a Scrum Master myself to model Agile practices in action, including both Scrum and Kanban.
In addition to team-focused coaching, I have established and led multiple Centers of Excellence to build a strong foundation for Agile practices across organizations. My experience also includes creating and leading several Scrum Master Communities of Practice, which foster knowledge-sharing and practical support for Agile teams. My leadership coaching emphasizes alignment toward shared goals, culminating in the development of the Evergreen Agile Leadership Summit—a program that helps leaders understand Agile’s impact on decision-making and transformation.
I spent the first few decades of my life training in Japanese martial arts, studying the Japanese language and culture, and even living in Japan for a couple of years. That experience has informed how I view running an organization, leading a team, and conducting myself professionally and personally. I have a drive to understand things, and to pass that knowledge on to others.
I am a big believer in this equation which I developed:
KNOWLEDGE X EXPERIENCE = SKILL + WISDOM
I want to provide others my knowledge and help them understand their experiences and how they are developing skills and wisdom. It is also true that people are not even aware of the positive effects they have on others. I seek to highlight those effects at every opportunity to help others see how they are acting as a light to others.
